There are no exclusivity agreements that preclude competition among cable companies to provide service in a particular area. Where various cable providers offer service depends on each company’s infrastructure throughout areas of the community.
Cable Complaints
Assembly Bill 2987, the Digital Infrastructure and Video Competition Act of 2006, has removed franchising authority from cities and empowered the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to franchise television providers. The City Manager’s Office still monitors cable television franchise agreements and handles resident concerns.
If you have a cable television problem that has not been solved through direct efforts with your cable company, you can contact the City Manager’s Office for additional assistance by calling (858) 668-4509.
