Trash, Recycling & Organics Recycling Collection

Weekly trash, recycling and organics recycling collection is required in the City of Poway. All trash, recycling and organics recycling collection services are provided by EDCO Disposal. The contract is managed by the Public Works Department who can be reached at 858-668-4700.

Organics Recycling

The City together with EDCO Waste & Recycling Services launched the new Organics Recycling Program on January 1, 2021. Poway residents are provided with up to three commingled green carts. Use your green cart to separate landscape waste, food scraps, and other organic materials for collection each week on your scheduled service day. The organic material collected will be taken to EDCO’s Anaerobic Digestion Facility in Escondido, California, to be converted into renewable natural gas and anaerobic compost.
