Disaster Preparedness

Research and experience suggest that communities with greater capabilities and capacity are more likely to be resilient in the face of a disaster. When the whole community is prepared, we are able to bounce back and return to normal more quickly. By being prepared, you contribute to building resilience within your community, which can help everyone recover faster and reduce the overall impact of disasters.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

CERT is a volunteer program sponsored by the Poway Fire Department. Team members learn emergency preparedness and disaster response skills to support themselves, their families, and the community during an emergency.

Disaster Preparedness for Individuals & Families

A disaster can disrupt the normal operations of life. Learn how to get information and emergency alerts, make a plan, and gather supplies to ensure you and your family are prepared for a disaster. Empower yourself to take action before, during, and after disasters like earthquakes, severe storms, and wildfires.

Drowning Awareness

Poway has created a Water Watcher program to bring awareness to the risk of drowning. The Water Watcher program encourages residents to always have a responsible adult assigned to watch kids around water - and to do so without distractions.

Home Fire Safety

Home fires are a very real, but very preventable danger. It is important to be aware of the risk of fire in your home so that you can take practical steps to prevent fires and be prepared in case one occurs.

Preparedness Planning for Your Business
