Hoot, Howl and Prowl - October 23, 2021
Since the mid-90s, Hoot, Howl and Prowl has been Blue Sky's favorite annual event to bring to our community. The fun begins every 15 minutes as docents lead guests on an after-dark adventure through the Reserve. The first group heads out at 5:30 p.m., and the last group leaves at 7:15 p.m. Docents, dressed as native critters, will bring Blue Sky alive. Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate at the end of your visit. Children are encouraged to dress in costumes, and everyone should dress warmly. Register online in advance. No walk-ins accepted.
Hiking with Kids - November 13, 2021: 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Feel like a pack mule hiking with kids? Why not let them share a little of the load? It will help them develop a degree of self-sufficiency and independence. Each child will be given their own kid-size backpack to decorate. We’ll also provide some lightweight essential items for them to put in their packs before heading out on the trail with a ranger or docent for a one-mile hike. Limited to 30 kids. $3 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Register online at poway.org/classes
Fun and Fitness Hiking Series
Hiking is one of the best things you can do for your health. Come out and join us in January of each year for our annual hiking series. What better way to meet new friends, de-stress, connect with nature, and get in shape? The fun begins at the south end of the parking lot. Distance and fitness level will gradually increase over six Monday mornings. All levels of fitness welcomed.
If you just can't wait until January rolls around to get started, check out our maps below and head out on the trail!
Join us on a journey into outer space, and viewing of our nighttime skies. First we'll travel through the solar system during a 1.5 mile hike into the Reserve before meeting up with Curiosity Peak astronomers from Julian with their powerful telescopes trained on a distant constellation or planet.
Junior Nature Ranger
A wonderful opportunity for families to connect with each other and nature. Docents help children experience nature first-hand through outdoor activities, and earn their certificate.
