The maintenance of the recreational trails is the responsibility of the city and is assisted by volunteers from the Adopt-a-Trail Program. The Adopt-a-Trail coordinator meets with people interested in keeping Poway's trails safe and clean and matches volunteers with a trail. Volunteers may choose a trail they currently use for horseback riding, hiking, or biking, or the trail may be close to home, employment, or an organization meeting place. Volunteers may choose any length of trail to adopt.
