Poway, CA – Poway City Councilmember Jim Cunningham, together with leaders from the Chamber of Commerce and the Poway business community, will hold a press conference at 10 A.M. on December 16, 2008 when he takes possession of a new Ford Taurus at Perry Ford, located at 12740 Poway Road in Poway. Councilmember Cunningham’s purchase is an example of how Poway citizens can support their community by shopping at Poway stores and participate in the “Poway Your First Choice” program.
Councilmember Cunningham noted, “Poway citizens always pull together to help their community when times are tough. We can all help protect and preserve our quality of life by patronizing local stores, businesses and restaurants. I am urging citizens to spend their shopping dollars in Poway.”
“Sales tax revenues account for 34.5% of the City of Poway’s general fund, which provides the majority of services that residents enjoy such as law enforcement and fire protection, well-maintained parks and safe roadways,” says City Manager Rod Gould. “If you have a choice, keep the money in Poway and help strengthen the local economy.”
