Whether your preference is shoreline fishing, dock fishing, or renting one of our many options for boating, Lake Poway has it all!  The Lake even operates a Concessions Stand where you can pick up bait, tackle, fishing poles, and much more! Check out our video below for a preview of all that Lake Poway  offers:

Lake Poway Fishing

  • Year-round fishing is available for trout, bass, catfish, sunfish and bluegill.
  • Please check our weekly fish report for fishing conditions, stocking dates and discounts
  • You can fish from the shoreline or from a rental boat.
  • Bait, tackle, lake permits, and refreshments are available at the Lake Poway Concession.
  • State Fishing Licenses are not required; however, Poway fishing permits are required.
  • Fishing is permitted WEDS-SUN.  View our permit and boat rental fees .

Catfish Season

  • Catfish season begins July 11 and continues through September 6.
  • The Lake is generally stocked every 2 weeks throughout the season.
  • During catfish season, night fishing will be available every Friday & Saturday night until 11:30pm. 

Daily Fish Catch Limits

Bass: 5 (12" min.)

Catfish: 5

Trout: 4 (no catch & release)

Bluegill: 10

Sunfish: 10
