City Conducting Controlled Flushing of Espola Road Water Pipeline February 3 through February 19
Flushing Necessary to Maintain Quality Drinking Water
The City will flush the newly constructed Espola Road water line beginning intermittently from February 3 through 19. Controlled flushing will prepare the new water pipeline for service. Flushing is necessary to ensure clean drinking water and protect the public health.
The new 42-inch water pipeline is located in Espola Road running from Titan Way to Twin Peaks Road. It will take several hours a day to release the water in a controlled manner. The water is safe for the environment and will flow into Rattlesnake Creek starting at Ezra Lane through the City’s drainage system where it will benefit natural species in the area.
It is critical to flush the City’s water distribution system to ensure water quality upon completion of a water main construction project such as this. While this activity may raise questions during drought conditions, it is required before putting a main into service after construction, to ensure the health and safety of our water customers. The approach and methodology has been carefully developed to ensure that the least amount of water is used, while also ensuring that proper flushing is performed.
